\nAnd all through the house
\nEvery light blazed brightly

\u201cBloody Hell\u201d Said Santa
\nAs he flew nearby
\n\u201cWhat\u2019s that over there, Rudolph?
\nIt\u2019s lighting up the sky.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy it\u2019s a house wasting energy
\nTheir lights all ablaze
\nDon\u2019t they realise
\nThere is money they could save?\u201d<\/p>\n

With a quick word to Rudolph,
\nThe sled descended to the ground.
\nSanta peered through the window,
\nAnd he saw Mr and Mrs Brown.<\/p>\n

They were seated at the table
\nHeads in their hands
\nBefore them was their utility bill
\nThe highest in the land.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow what\u2019s all this?\u201d Said Santa
\nAs he flung open the door.
\n\u201cWhy are you so glum?
\nCome tell Santa more!\u201d<\/p>\n

\"santa<\/a>\u201cOh Santa, please help us.\u201d
\nCried a desperate Mrs Brown
\n\u201cOur utility bill is so high<\/a>
\nWe can\u2019t make it come down.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re out of money.
\nWe are out of our depth.
\nWe can\u2019t even buy the kids presents
\nWith what little we have left.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh help us, dear Santa,
\nWhat can we do?\u201d
\nSanta just smiled.
\n\u201cCome, I\u2019ll show you.\u201d<\/p>\n

He took them around
\nThe home that they loved
\nShowing them ways to save energy
\nWith a flourish of his glove.<\/p>\n

\u201cTurn off some lights.
\nEmpty rooms don\u2019t need to be lit
\nHere are energy efficient light bulbs<\/a>
\nWhich you must go and fit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNow see your thermostat?\u201d
\nSanta pointed with glee.
\n\u201cTo save yourself money,
\nTurn it down a degree.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cManage your boiler better
\nOr replace it for new.
\nGet a Band A Condensing<\/a> one
\nThat will save a pound or two!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t waste your energy
\nDon\u2019t waste your time.
\nDon\u2019t heat empty rooms
\nAnd you will do fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat about your cavity walls?
\nAre they insulated and filled?
\nThey can be done through a grant<\/a>
\nAnd will help cut those pesky bills.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat of your loft?
\nIs the insulation nice and deep?
\nIf you get that done
\nThen your heat you will keep.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor TVs, chargers and gadgets<\/a>
\nWhen you are done
\nRemember to unplug them
\nDon\u2019t leave them on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a few simple changes,
\nYou will save lots more.
\nLearn from these lessons,
\nAnd you will not be energy poor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh thank you, dear Santa.\u201d
\nThe relieved couple did cry.
\n\u201cWe\u2019ll do everything you said,
\nWe promise we\u2019ll try.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll watch what we do
\nOur usage will fall.
\nWe\u2019ll even buy an energy monitor<\/a>
\nAnd hang it on the wall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOne more question, Santa,
\nIf you have the time?\"merry<\/a>
